Description

Human primary cardiomyocytes and cardiac tissue are superior modeling systems for heart disease studies, drug discovery and toxicity testing compared to animal cells or immortalized cell lines. Human adult primary cardiomyocytes are difficult to obtain due to limited availability of cardiac tissue and they do not typically proliferate in culture. The cardiomyocytes derived from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC) can potentially provide an unlimited supply of cardiomyocytes for drug screening, toxicity testing and developmental studies. 

 

HPSC-derived Cardiomyocyte Cells (HPSC-CC) of ScienCell Research Laboratories are differentiated from hPSC and enriched for contracting cells. Through the temporal modulation of canonical Wnt signaling and growth factor induction, monolayer-cultured hPSC are differentiated to contracting cardiomyocytes under serum-free and feeder-free conditions at high efficiency. HPSC-CC are cryopreserved at passage one after enrichment and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >1.5 x 10^6 cells in 1 ml volume. Cells are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibodies specific to alpha-actinin and sarcomeric tropomyosin. HPSC-CC are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HPSC-CC are guaranteed to further culture under the conditions provided by ScienCell Research Laboratories. HPSC-CC are not recommended for expanding since the cells show limited proliferation capability in CMM in culture.

Components

It is recommended to use the provided Cardiomyocyte Plating Medium (CPM, Cat. #5921) for seeding HPSC-CC in vitro. It is recommended to use Cardiac Myocyte Medium (CMM, Cat. #6201) or other preferred medium for the culturing of HPSC-CC in vitro.

HPSC-CC are for research use only. It is not approved for human or animal use, or for application in in vitro diagnostic procedures.

 

Storage

Upon receiving, directly and immediately transfer the cells from dry ice to liquid nitrogen and keep the cells in liquid nitrogen until they are needed for experiments.
